Groote Post - (South Africa)

Groote Post logo

The Groote Post building was established in 1808 as (as the name suggests) a lookout post designed to protect cattle from theft by Hottentots and other tribes. After a long history, Father Pentz decided to purchase the building and give it a new purpose. The hills of Darling proved to be ideal for cultivating grapevines. With its distance of 7km from the sea, the vineyards can benefit from the cooling and regulating effect of the ocean. Today, the "Cool Climate" prevailing here is a significant advantage for the future. Meanwhile, brothers Peter and Nick Pentz have taken over the wine estate with great ambition. They further modernized it and continue to combine tradition with new innovative techniques to this day. The "Salt" range is a shining example of this. The surrounding environment and climatic conditions are used to introduce new, modern styles and techniques. Groote Post, a place with a great past but an even 'greater' future.
